We want anyone who wants to volunteer, or find volunteers, to be able to use this site — regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse it.
We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA — covering things like readable color contrast, text that resizes without breaking the layout, and pages that work with a keyboard alone, not just a mouse or touchscreen.
The shift map on the homepage is built on a third-party mapping library (Leaflet with OpenStreetMap tiles). Interactive maps like this are harder to make fully accessible to screen readers — if you use one, the list view next to the map shows the same shifts and is the more reliable way to browse.
